Tamarind Spice

Tamarind spice has a sweet and sour taste. The shape of the spice is like a long bean. The spice is a tropical fruit that comes from the tamarind tree. Tamarind is a fruit type spice and about six inches in length. Young tamarind fruit is covered light brown in color and the taste is sour. Tamarind are found in green inside with brown covers when young and brown when ripe. The spice is also used as powder after drying.

Tamarind contains vitamins and minerals. It is a rich source of magnesium. The spice is packed with vitamin A and C. It also contains calcium, phosphorus, iron, fiber and has antioxidants. Tamarind spice used as a souring agent in preparation of sauce, chutney etc. It is used as an additive flavor in cooking. It is one of the most popular multipurpose tropical spices in some countries.
